Postcard Correspondence

I created a series of 3 ‘Beetlejuice’ themed postcards for Gallery 1988‘s group show ‘Postcard Correspondence’.

Fun fact I learned while creating this series: In the movie, the deserts of the Afterlife are referred to by Beetlejuice as Saturn, but in the original movie script it was meant to be Saturn’s moon Titan. Who knew?

Show opens this Friday, March 20th. Read more about the show here.

Never Forget 9/11

In 2001, I was a second year student in the Graphic Design program at Algonquin College. A few weeks after 9/11, we were assigned a small project to create an illustration using a barcode. There were barcodes made out of everything: animals, people, cars, food, etc. With the tragedy of 9/11 so fresh in my mind, I turned two barcodes on their side and used the numbers as the exact date and time that each tower was hit.

CORALINE Vinyl Soundtrack

I’m thrilled to be a part of Mondo‘s release of CORALINE on deluxe limited edition vinyl. It was a honor to work on – I love the 2009 stop-motion film and I’ve always been a fan of the the works of LAIKA Animation Studios.

Check out the artwork below and sample a track from the score. More pictures to come.

Riley Stewart Photography

Riley Stewart is a good friend of mine, who also happens to be one of the best photographers I know. Check out some of his work.

I’ve always been drawn to his thought provoking style. His photographs are charming, imaginative and often times emotional.

I think what I like best about Riley’s skill set, is his ability to capture real moments that reveal so much personality of the subject.

This past January, I hit him up to get a new head shot for my recent feature in Applied Arts.

The photo above is the one we ended up using for the article, but below are a few others taken the same day.

I work with Riley any time that I can. Heck, he even shot my wedding!

If you’d like to see more of Riley’s work, check out his websiteFacebookInstagram or Twitter.

Hire him. He’s amazing.

G1988 + Cartoon Network Adventure Time

Stoked to be a part of Gallery 1988‘s official Cartoon Network Adventure Time art show.

Even more stoked that my poster made the flyer!

I went a bit crazy with their arms; which is exactly what my favourite thing is about the show: Finn & Jake’s NOODLE ARMS!

It’s the first poster I’ve designed after quite some time, and I couldn’t be more thrilled that it’s for Cartoon Network’s Adventure Time. The show opens on April 3rd, 2014. If you’re in the area, be sure to check it out!

The Comeback Kid

I’m excited and humbled to be featured in an article called ‘The Comeback Kid’ in the latest issue of Applied Arts Magazine for winning my second AACE award.

It was somewhat of a personal interview focused around my struggles with balance; and how I’ve learned how important it is to slow down, take a break, and enjoy life outside of work.

As designers/artists, we are always on the hunt for the next big project. But don’t be afraid to turn opportunities down. Rest. Relax. Recharge. Read a book (that’s not about design). You, and your work, can benefit from it.
