Crazy 4 Cult: LSOH

This is my contribution to G1988′s Crazy 4 Cult show; based off one of my all time favorites, Little Shop of Horrors.

I wanted to try something a little different (than my usual bright colored artwork); something a bit more dark and gritty. After all, the movie is about a man eating plant!

This is how I imagine the film if they ever released an ’unrated director’s cut’. Haha. I think my main inspiration came from Quentin Tarantino’s Grindhouse movie posters.

Crazy 4 Cult

I’m excited to be a part of G1988‘s Crazy 4 Cult show in NYC! I’ll be revealing my artwork based on one of my all time favorites, Little Shop of Horrors, closer to the date of the show. Stay tuned!

In the meantime, check out this amazing poster designed by Jason Edmiston. Epic.

My Steve Martin Tribute

I’ve been a fan of Steve Martin for years, so I was honored to be a part of his upcoming tribute show, Excuuuuuse Meeeeeeeee, at Gallery 1988.

Besides his films, three things stand out to me the most about Steve:

  1. His iconic premature white hair.
Apparently, he started going gray in his late 20′s, which makes him the original silver fox.
  2. He hasn’t aged in 40 years.
Right? He looks exactly the same ever since I can remember. (Refer to #1)
  3. He has a million job titles.
I mean, really. Is there anything Steve can’t do!?

Scroll down to see actual photographs. Danny Askar, same person who printed my Shit Golden Girls Say piece, did an outstanding job.

Next up: A Tribute to Steve Martin

Comedian/actor/author/banjo genius, Steve Martin, is a legend, so I’m really excited to be part of his upcoming tribute show. Excuuuuuse Meeeeeeeee opens Friday, June 8th at Gallery 1988 Venice. Stay tuned for my submission.

Steve Martin Quote

I randomly came across this today on ffffound while I was working on a portrait of Steve Martin for G1988‘s upcoming tribute show. Weird…

Shit Golden Girls Say

I’m really excited to be a part of Gallery 1988‘s 8 year anniversary show, MEMES, a celebration of the Internet’s best inside jokes. The show opens this Friday, May 4th at the Melrose location (7020 Melrose Ave, Los Angeles 90038).

I selected the Meme, Shit Girls Say.

Shit Girls Say is a single topic blog and a web series showcasing various cliches and verbal mannerisms that are commonly associated with teenage girls and young women. –

Originally, I wanted to create a piece with the creators, Graydon Sheppard and Kyle Humphrey. However, the original video inspired dozens of parodies so I wanted to create my own unique spin-off. ’Shit Golden Girls Say was born’. I had been forever searching for the right platform to pay tribute to my favorite show and G1988′s Memes exhibit was the perfect stage to bring the characters of Dorothy, Sophia, Blanche and Rose back to life.

Shit Golden Girls Say

All the quotes you see here are taken from various episodes of The Golden Girls. Even after 20 years, the girls are just as funny.

The print is 18″ x 24″ and is silk screened in 2 colours: Black and Gold. You can purchase it here.

We are less than a month away from Gallery1988‘s 8 year anniversary celebration art show, “MEMES”. It’s my first time participating with this gallery so I’m really excited!
