Sesame Street: Monster Bite

Below is a quick submission to the Sesame Street t-shirt competition on Threadless. A simple idea with a simple execution: Cookie Monster revealed in a giant bite.

We are less than a month away from Gallery1988‘s 8 year anniversary celebration art show, “MEMES”. It’s my first time participating with this gallery so I’m really excited!

Mikey’s Cinnamon Mini Buns

I mention in my bio that I used to record Saturday morning cartoons/commercials only to redraw every scene. Well, here’s proof.

The first in the series was my attempt at recreating this early 90′s commercial for Kellogg’s Cinnamon Mini Buns. I distinctly remember sitting across the tv at the coffee table with mountains of paper and eraser shavings. Pause. Play. Pause. Play. It took hours! What 10-year-old kid does this???

These pages are taken from an old scrap book. Note the Day of the Tentacle stickers in the bottom corner. Amazing.

If you didn’t already do so, now watch the original commercial.

Remember we were ‘Members’?

I was looking through old photos and came across these gems – Virgin Mobile’s 2009 “Members Get” campaign by Juniper Park. I got to be a ‘model’ for a day with my dear friend Tiyana Grulovic. In fact, my friends dominated this project. The photoshoot included mainsies Metzti Bryan and Desire Kaniki, the ads were designed by Ryan Teixiera, and Andrew Chisholm came up with the overall idea. This was his concept:

We cast a bunch of friends through Facebook, and invited them all to hang out in a large empty room on a cold Monday night. It was photographed by The Cobrasnake to create a genuine atmosphere with our very target demographic interacting with one another in a natural setting. The result was a true glimpse of what life would be like behind the proverbial velvet rope.

Check out the tv spot that aired during the MMVA’s.

The best part of it all? I got free Starbucks for a couple weeks when my barista recognized me as ‘that guy with the red bow tie’.

Muppet Autographs

I got my posters signed by all the Muppeteers – Bill Barretta, Matt Vogel, David Rudman, Eric Jacobson & Dave Goelz. Wow! A special thanks to Matt for making this happen.
